Joann F. Halula

September 4, 1954 — March 1, 2024

Etters, PA

Joann F. Halula, 69, of Etters, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Harmony of West Shore, Mechanicsburg. The daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Gollins) Halula, she was born on September 4, 1954 in Harrisburg.

A graduate of Trinity High School (’72), she would go on to work at the former New Cumberland Army Depot for her entire working career, retiring after 31 years as Director of Logistics.

Early in life, Joann was a car buff, and her love for Dodge would remain constant. She was a very detail-oriented individual and had impeccable penmanship. She was musically inclined, participating in school musicals as a teen and playing the piano and organ. She was an avid tennis fan and watched Turner Classic Movies daily; she knew all the actors and actresses, details about their lives and relationships, and all kinds of other trivia.

Growing up in New Cumberland she lived a quiet life.  She enjoyed time with her cousins Sue and Carol and shopping with her mother. As her mother aged, she would take her out to eat and care for her in all sorts of ways. She was a giving individual, supporting dog and cat rescues, programs designed to help veterans, and countless other charitable organizations that won her heart. While most people look forward to Super Bowl Sunday for football, Joann was much more interested in the Puppy Bowl.

Surviving Joann are her siblings, David J. of Mechanicsburg, Joseph F. (wife, Kathy) of Hershey, and Leon S. (wife, Wendy) of Mechanicsburg; five nieces, a nephew, and four great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Halula; and sister-in-law, Mary Halula.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Prior to mass, a visitation hour will run from 9:30-10:30AM at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services (directly across the street from the church). Inurnment will immediately follow mass in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Joann’s name to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
