John A. Aumiller, Sr.

July 28, 1934 — May 6, 2017

With loving family by his side, John A. Aumiller Sr. of Camp Hill, PA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Born July 28, 1934 in Milroy, PA, John was the son of the late Arthur C. and Hazel (Bobb) Aumiller.

John was a 1952 graduate of Armagh Brown Regional High School, and proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952 to his honorable discharge in 1960. John’s career in the automotive industry spanned nearly six decades. He began as an AAMCO Service Center owner in the early 1960s in Milroy, PA and then partnered with his brothers at nearby Aumiller’s Auto Wreckers. In 1970, John purchased New Cumberland Auto Parts where he worked until he founded Aumiller’s Auto Parts, Inc. in Halifax in 1981. In 1992, John purchased Cameron Street Body Shop in Harrisburg, expanding to a larger facility at 12th & Herr Streets several years later. John’s honesty, integrity, kindness, and excellent service to his customers is surpassed only by his work ethic. Until recently, John was still at the shop seven days a week.

John was a Mason in two Pennsylvania Masonic Chapters. He was a longtime supporter of Cedar Cliff High School athletics, and a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. A wonderful story teller, John was always ready to make us smile by recollecting his experiences of attending auto auctions, auto industry events, and family activities. John leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and service to others.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Roberta (Young) Aumiller, and five children. Annette Aumiller of Camp Hill, Lori Collins of Camp Hill, Lynne Miller (Scott) of Mechanicsburg, John Jr. (Jennifer) of Dauphin, and Karl Sr. (Joy) of Mechanicsburg. John’s sisters Helen Bollinger and Sara Barnes, both of Milroy, survive along with ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Karl Aumiller, Jr. (Ashley), Kristopher Aumiller (Michelle), Jesse Aumiller, Caleb Collins, Jorey Aumiller, Joy Aumiller, Kole Aumiller, Madison Christensen, Jace Aumiller, Bryce Miller, Lucy Aumiller, Norah Aumiller, and Alice Aumiller. John was proceeded in death by his brothers Timothy and James Aumiller, and sisters Grace Patterson, Dorothy Ryan, and Faylee Reager.
