John A Lentz Jr. (Jack), 79, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Harrisburg Pennsylvania, passed away on February 9, 2020, after a long battle with diabetes.
Jack was born December 29, 1940 in Hershey PA and Graduated from Northern Lebanon High School in 1958. As quoted in his high school yearbook “Jack likes to argue, but playing sports is his virtue”, he really lived up to his reputation. Jack earned his senior letter playing the game he loved, soccer. He continued to play and coach for over 40 years. He was one of the founding members of Lower Paxton Soccer Association and a member of the Senior Division Amateur Soccer Team. He retired spending most of his life in the flooring industry with working a good portion of his career at Dauphin Tile Company in Mechanicsburg, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. Sr. and Helen A. (Leonard) Lentz. He is survived by his wife Jeannie M. (Hepschmidt) Lentz; son Stephen Lentz; 3 daughters, Christine Scipione, Sherri Brown and Deanna Barthel; stepdaughter Kristin Rombaugh; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 6 pm on Friday, February 21st in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1303 Bridge St, New Cumberland, PA 17070 with a visitation with family from 5 – 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1104 Fernwood Ave #301, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
