John B. McNichol, 72, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, August 25, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He retired from the Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Public Welfare, Harrisburg, State Budget Office as a Budget Analyst; attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg; a life member of Lower Allen VFW Post 7530 Auxiliary; Mechanicsburg Club; a life member of the West Shore Elks, Lodge #2257, Camp Hill. He was born January 2, 1946 in Pittston, to the late George and Anne. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick J. McNichol.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Joan A. (Singer) McNichol; his beloved dog, Sophie; a sister and her husband, Maureen and John Saweikis of Camp Hill; a nephew, Sean P. McNichol of Camp Hill; three nieces, Meredith A. Farrell and husband, Marc, of Camp Hill, Kirsten Saweikis-Sullivan and husband Dan and their son, Cian of VA, Jessica Saweikis of Camp Hill; two sisters-in-law, Janis Singer of Mifflintown, and Roberta Valeski of State College.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 310 Hertzler Road, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Paul C. B. Schenck as Celebrant. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held 5 – 7PM on Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
