John H. “Jack” Millard, 82, of Etters, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Son of the late John A. and Mabel (Kauffman) Millard, he was born on February 2, 1938 in York Haven.
Upon high school graduation, Jack served his country in the U.S. Army. In the private sector, he worked for most of his years at Freysinger Automotive and Body Shop, New Cumberland, as the parts manager. He was a member of New Cumberland VFW and American Legion, and he enjoyed being with his wife and family. He took pride in everything he did, whether it was keeping the garden and lawn in tip-top shape or religiously applying three coats of wax per month to a car that sat undriven in the garage. He was meticulous, but he was also gentle and personable. He enjoyed watching sports, especially stock car racing, and liked pulling pranks on friends, family and the occasional waitress. His pleasant demeanor (and his antics) will be missed.
Surviving Jack are his children, Peggy Sue Thomas (husband, Scott) of North Port, FL, and Paul E. Millard of Etters; and his grandchildren, Kaylee and Tyler, and D’mitri and Isaiah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Amsbaugh) Millard.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A visitation with family will begin one hour prior to the service. Immediately following services, committal will take place in Crossroads Cemetery, Lewisberry.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jack’s name to either the VFW Post 7415, 109 3rd Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070, or to the American Legion Post 143, 214 Market Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
