John "Hoppy" Good Hopkins, III, 95, of Allendale, Camp Hill, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Frey Village, Middletown of COVID-19.
He was a retired Civil Engineer with the PA Department of Transportation, a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Allendale, Camp Hill and Masonic Lodge No. 143, F&AM, Chambersburg, PA. John enjoyed hunting, family gatherings and was a talented craftsman, creating many heirloom pieces for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and his family meant everything to him.
John was born in Hazleton, PA to the late John and Clara (Hartranft) Hopkins, Jr. He was the widower of Margaret “Jean” (Nelson) Hopkins and was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Nelson Hopkins (Rose), and his brother James Walton Hopkins.
He is survived by his children, John Good Hopkins, IV (Susan) of Camp Hill, Beth Ann Hopkins (Bill) of Pacific Grove, CA, Bonnie Jean Hopkins of Salinas, CA and Becky Jo Hopkins of Mechanicsburg; a sister Nancy D’Ardenne of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren (Tim, Michael, Briana, Ashley, Jake, Emily, Alison, Sierra, and Riley) and six great grandchildren (Hunter, Jamison, Sage, Leyton, Jamie and Lavianna).
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in John’s memory to his church, Christ Presbyterian Church, 421 Deerfield Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
