John Joseph Mcdonough, Sr.

John Joseph McDonough, Sr., 72, formerly of Carlisle and Etters, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at The Gardens of West Shore, East Pennsboro Twp. He was a retired Insurance Agent, a Vietnam War Navy veteran, and an avid golfer. He loved the game of golf and the experience of sharing with others the joy he felt being on the course. He enjoyed travel and meeting new people, he made a new friend everywhere he went. He had a tremendous love and respect for this country and the people that serve. Most important to him was his family and friends.

Jack was born in Kingston, Luzerne County, PA to the late Walter and Helen (Lambert) McDonough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Andrea McDonough and a sister Denise Martin.

He is survived by his children, John J. McDonough, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Red Lion, Michael J. McDonough of Louisville, KY, and Lacey J. McDonough of New Cumberland; siblings, James “Jim” McDonough of Lewes, DE, Helene Landau of Media, PA, Kathleen Wint of West Wyoming, PA, Jane Meyer of Forty Fort, PA, Bill McDonough of Bear Creek, PA, Rosemarie Bray of Nanticoke, PA, and Kerry Lynady of Hazelton, PA; and his companion Kelly Gitt of Portland, OR. He also has three grandchildren, Lilly McDonough, Molly McDonough, and Carter McCullough; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 15th at the Parthmore Funeral Home located at 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070. Visitation will be from 10-11am with services at 11am. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., PA at a date that is to be determined.
