John P. "Chooch" Kamarer, 67, of Camp Hill passed away on September 23, 2024. He was born on February 2, 1957, in Harrisburg, PA to the late James and Wihelmena (Steward) Kamarer. John was a proud Marine Veteran and beloved railroad engineer, known for enjoying a cold Coors Light while playing tickets at the VFW or Legion, riding his Harley, and passionately working in the transportation industry for Conrail/ Norfolk Southern, John's spirit will forever echo through the hearts of those who knew him. Affectionately nicknamed "Mixer," from his days at Pennsy Supply - John brought joy and laughter to those around him with his charismatic personality and love for sports, especially cheering on the Redskins and PSU. A trucking business owner, and devoted family man, John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and unwavering loyalty.
He is survived by his significant other, Sally Osborne; a son Shea Kamarer; two daughters, Jenna Kamarer and Janelle Browand; 8 grandchildren, Lily Kamarer, Alexus Browand, Isabella Bixler, Maverick Browand, Sophia Bixler, Cashtyn Cariaga, Maddox Cariaga, and Mila Cariaga; and three brothers, Paul, Ronald, and Richard Kamarer. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a son, Kiley Bixler.
A visitation will be held at Parthemore Funeral Home on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 11:30 AM until the start of the funeral at 12:30. Burial will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery with Pastor Manuel Valentin officiating. In honoring John’s proud service to his country, memorial contributions are requested in lieu of flowers to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
