John Arthur Lewis, 76, of Camp Hill, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital, Hampden Township. He was the son of the late Thomas and Julie (Richards) Lewis, born on June 1, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, John was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, earning three Bronze Service Stars and a National Defense Service Medal during his time in Vietnam, and ultimately achieving the rank of Specialist with the 1st Cavalry Division. Relocating to Central PA in the mid-1980s, he spent his career with the former New Cumberland Army Depot, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the local VFW and American Legion chapters and a college football enthusiast. Meticulous and organized, he prided himself on keeping a pristine property, often observing and evaluating his handywork from the deck. He was unwaveringly supportive of his daughter and stepson in all their academic and professional achievements. A devoted husband, father, brother and friend, John will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving John is his wife of 25 years, Judith (Green) Lewis; his daughter, Hon. Melissa T. Lewis Andre (husband, Philippe) of Manhattan, NY; stepson, CAPT Steven T. Hejmanowski USN, Ret. (wife, Denyea) of Sparks, NV; grandchildren, Miles T. Andre and Rachel, Abby and Elizabeth Hejmanowski; a brother-in-law, Edward Beleck Jr. of Carlisle; niece, Diane Miller (husband, Dave); and nephews, Thomas Lewis and Edward R. Beleck III. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judith Beleck and Murial Szczpta; and two brothers, Richard T. Lewis and Edward R. Lewis.
