John R. Gordy

John R. Gordy, 73, of New Cumberland, Fairview Twp. died Saturday, December 31, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

A Vietnam War and retired Army Veteran, he worked at UPS Freight and R.F. Fager Company, Lemoyne.  He attended Red Land High School. He was a member of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland and a lifetime member of Vietnam Vets of America. He enjoyed working on his 1968 Chevy Nova and other cars and adored his grandchildren.

He was born November 10, 1949 in Harrisburg to the late Billy Albert Gordy and Virginia Louise (Nye) Huber. He was also preceded in death by a brother William James Gordy.

He is survived by his wife, Susan B. (Baum) Gordy; children, Christopher M. Keck of Etters, Alisha M. Keller (Jayme) of Harrisburg, Tami L. Mack (Robert) of Mechanicsburg, Shawn A. Rudy (Emily) of Ephrata, and Justin L. Gordy (Felisha Pomeroy) of Middletown; sisters, Paula Ream of Charleston, SC and Susan Hanks of Conyers, GA; brother Samuel Kickliter Gordy of Brunswick, GA; thirteen grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 5-7pm Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Private inurnment with military honors will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery.
