John R. Gross

John R. Gross, Sr., 80, of New Cumberland died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services, Camp Hill.

He was a retired bus driver for Capital Area Transit, Harrisburg. Prior to working for CAT he was a buyer for Bowman’s Department Store. He was a 1955 graduate of Steelton High School where he was an All-State End for the Big 33 east football team. He was an avid Steel-High fan. He enjoyed bowling.

He was born June 13, 1936 in Steelton to the late John Russell and Ruth Margaret (Beaver) Gross.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Jacoby of Naples, FL and Loretta Swalm (Neil) of Cape Coral, FL ; a son, John R. Gross, Jr. of New Cumberland; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Kirsten, and John; and four great-grandsons, Draven, Corvin, Maxton and Anthony.

Also survived by one sister, Ruth Edwards (Robert) of Pittsburgh

He was a very dedicated, loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed.

Visitation will be from 10 until funeral services at 11am Saturday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
