John T. Titzel

John Thomas Titzel, 88, of Lower Allen Twp. passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center, Carlisle.

John was the retired Head of Safety for Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp. and for 29 years was the owner/operator of John T. Titzel, Inc., Fire Protection Equipment.
He was a 1952 graduate of Lemoyne High School and a graduate of Oklahoma State University.

Lower Allen Twp. was very important to John as he was involved in numerous civic organizations and activities within the Township. He was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Allen Twp., a Lower Allen Township Commissioner for 20 years, an active member of the Lower Allen Fire Co. # 1 from the age of 16 remaining as a Life Active member the rest of his life, and served his community as a Scout leader and President of the Rossmoyne Elementary School PTA. His various other jobs included being an Underwriter for Nationwide Insurance Co., Director of Safety at Memorial Hospital, York, and after retirement was a School Bus Driver for West Shore School District, a job where he thoroughly enjoyed his young passengers, including for a few years, his granddaughters.

John was born October 25, 1932 in Harrisburg the son of the late James A. and Savilla (Boyd) Titzel.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen M. (Balmer) Titzel; two sons, John T., Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Lewisberry and Arthur N. and wife Christine of Lower Allen Twp; and three
grandchildren, Kayleigh, Annalise and Drew. He was predeceased by brother James B. Titzel and wife Esther.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. The Rev. Virginia Cover, Rev. D. Evan Houck, and Vicar Susan Scott will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to Service time. Masks are respectfully requested to ensure the safety of all the family and friends in attendance.
