John W. “Jack” Umbrell, 85, of Mechanicsburg died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his home.
A Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired Electronic Technician from the former New Cumberland Army Depot. He received his BA from University of Oklahoma. An avid crossword puzzle solver, he enjoyed playing bridge, military history, and traveling.
He was born December 2, 1929 in Harrisburg to the late Dwight and Pearl (Grove) Umbrell. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cousins (Brian) of Denver, CO; three sons, Stephen (Karen) of Maynard, MA, Edward (Christine) of Oak Hill, VA, and Michael (Patricia) of Waltham, MA; his former wife, Mary (Hoffman) Umbrell of Harrisburg; and ten grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sara, Abigail, Shawn, Joshua, Matthew, Nathan, Teddy, Rosalyn, and Rita.
Viewing will be held from 5 to 7pm Sunday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Memorial contributions are requested to the charity of one’s choice.
