Joseph A. Halula

Joseph A. Halula, 95, of New Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired Supply Systems Analyst for the Navy Fleet Materials Support Office of the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Twp. and a former teacher at Trinity High School, Camp Hill and the West Shore School District. He was a WWII Army veteran; a 1937 graduate of St. Vincent Prep School, Latrobe, St. Vincent College, Latrobe and earned his Masters in Education from Temple University, Philadelphia. Joe was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Holy Name Society, Ushers Club and Knight’s of Columbus, Council 8921; additionally, he was a Life Member of the D.A.V., West Shore Chapter 50.
Joe was born in Marguerite, Westmoreland County to the late Stephen and Mary (Yarob) Halula and was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
He was the widower of Florence J. (Gollins) Halula and is survived by a daughter, Joann F. Halula of Etters; three sons, David J. and wife Mary of Mechanicsburg, Joseph F. and wife Kathy of Hershey and Leon S. and wife Wendy of Mechanicsburg; a sister Helen Novotny of Greensburg; a brother Edward of Springfield, OH; a niece Sister M. Terese Sass of Greensburg; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many more nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday January 12, 2015 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. J. Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Viewings will be from 2-4 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with a Scripture Service and Eulogy beginning at 3:45 and again on Monday from 10-10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
