Joseph C. Bender

Joseph C. Bender, 64, of Camp Hill passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home. The Lord has called him home to join his parents Charles Joseph Sr. and Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Bender (Mulcahy).
Born in Pittston, PA on September 10, 1949, Joe graduated from Cedar Cliff High school in 1967 and served in the US Coast Guard as a flight engineer on search and rescue aircraft. He was the owner of A&A furniture in New Cumberland and a past President of the New Cumberland Old Towne Association. Joe was formerly involved with the New Cumberland Jaycees. Joe was a licensed Auctioneer and a salesman at Furniture and Mattress Discount King which partly explains his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Late in life, Joe began to learn Spanish so he could better relate to his customers. If you met Joe, you liked Joe. He had a heart of gold and an undeniable love for his children, grandchildren, and his family. Joe also adored his German Shepherd, Duke.
Joe is survived by two children, Jody, and husband Kevin, Yarnevich and Jerry, and wife Lynn, Bender both of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Elaine, and husband Andy, Pisano of Fallston, MD and Carolyn, and husband Mike, Lewis of Saratoga Springs, NY; three brothers, Charles, Jr., and wife Michelle, of Mechanicsburg, Donald, and wife Linda, of Camp Hill, and Bob, and wife Ashleigh, of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan, and Kayla; and countless nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am Monday, November 4 at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday at St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lindsay Bender Scholarship Fund at St. Theresa Parish Athletic Association, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
