Joseph Ronald "Ron" Bruce

Joseph Ronald Bruce, 75, of Etters and formerly of Trenton, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 in his residence.

Ron enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany and Vietnam. He later began his career as a civilian Strategic Planning Officer with the US Army at Fort Dix where he worked for 30 years. He was a class of ’64 graduate of Hamilton High School, Trenton, NJ, a graduate of Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey) and received his Masters of Science from Anna Maria College. He was an ardent golfer and played at many of the area’s golf courses. He loved music of many genres from the Platters to Pink Floyd to Alabama Shakes. He lived for the family visits to Christmas plays at Allenberry, PA, Renaissance Fairs, Celtic Fairs and trips to Washington Crossing. He was well known for his long stories and really bad dad jokes. On his last day with us, he was very happy to watch the Phillies beat the Nationals.

Ron was born in Sewickley, PA, the son of the late Calvin and Grace (Nagren) Bruce.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Denise McCarthy; daughters, Sarah Forman and husband Nate of Browns Mills, NJ and Morgan Mason and husband Charles of Harrisburg; siblings, Kenneth Bruce and his wife Pat of Trenton, NJ, Jerry Bruce and his wife Diane of Trenton, NJ, Mary Lou Jacobelli and her late husband Carl of Hamilton, NJ and Susan DiDonato and her husband Paul of Trenton, NJ; six grandchildren, Nelson, Illissa, Elijah, Amaya, Isaiah and C.J.; and a great granddaughter Melissa. In addition, Ron will be greatly missed by many devoted and loving cousins, nieces and nephews and neighborhood kids.

Visitation with Ron’s family will be from 1-2 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A memorial service of remembrance will be held immediately following at 2 pm.
