Joseph W. Harris, ETC (SS) USN (RET), 74, of New Cumberland died Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.
He was a retired Electronics Technician from Three Mile Island and prior to that, retired from the Navy as a Submariner having been stationed in Groton, CT, Hawaii, and San Diego, CA. He was a life member of VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland and was active with Boy Scouts of America.
He was born November 18, 1942 in Paduach, KY to the late (Helen Louise Warix and Frank Raymond Harris). He was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond F. Harris (Correne) and wife Catherine Mary Harris.
He is survived by a son, Stephen J. Harris(Tracey) of Groton, CT; two daughters, Karen S. Mooney (Michael) and Elizabeth L. Fox both of New Cumberland; four grandchildren, Joseph, Aiden, Victoria, and Samantha; and two great-grandchildren, Collin and Logan.
Visitation will be from 5pm until the memorial service at 6pm Thursday, October 12, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Committal services will be held at 12:30pm Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. A celebration of Joseph’s life will follow from 3 to 6 pm at Lower Allen VFW.
