Joy Ann Bowers

Joy Ann Bowers, 83, of Etters went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 28, 2023.

She retired as a Data Entry Specialist from Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund.  A 1957 graduate of John Harris High School, she was a member of Paddletown Saint Pauls United Methodist Church, Newberrytown where she served on the Pastor Parish Committee and United Methodist Women's Organization and sang for many years in the Church Choir.  Her faith was important, and she frequently held bible studies in her home.

She was a past member of Newberrytown Fire Company, where she had served as an EMT, and in the Ladies' Auxillary.  In addition to her faith, her life was focused on her family and she took pleasure in hosting holidays and special events for her children and grandchildren. 

She was born January 17, 1940 in Berwick and is the daughter of the late Charles Lutz and Letha (Culp) Hayes, and step–daughter of the late Albert Hayes.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harry L. Bowers; children, Cheryl Kinney (Scott) of Mechanicsburg, Dave Bowers of Harrisburg, and Steven Bowers (Rumina) of Berlin, MD; grandchildren, Nathan Kinney (Hillary), Jimmy Bowers (Emilee), Brian Kinney (Marisa), Jenny Berju (Jordan), Logan Bowers-Flannery, and Raya Bowers; great-grandchildren, Addison, Hadley, Sadie, and Palmer Kinney. 

Viewing will be from 10am until funeral services at 11am Friday, September 1, 2023 at Paddletown St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Newberrytown. Graveside Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens , Harrisburg.
