Joyce A. Hoover Wagner

Joyce A. Hoover Wagner, 83, of Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle, and previously of New Cumberland, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the center.

She retired as a bookkeeper for businesses in the area; a 1952 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School and attended the former Millersville State Teachers College; a life member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; a member of PA Sports Hall of Fame, Capital Area Chapter, and a Charter member of West Shore Chapter, PA Sports Hall of Fame; a member of Tri-County Federation of Democratic Women; VFW Post 7415 Auxiliary, New Cumberland; American Legion Post 143 Auxiliary, New Cumberland; a life member of the New Cumberland Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the New Cumberland River Rescue Auxiliary.

Born on November 12, 1934, in New Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late A. Eugene and Alice R. Walls Hoover. She was the widow of Albert F. Wagner, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, James H. and Jay E. Hoover, and by two great grandsons, Caleb Dugan and Captain Blessing.

Surviving are three daughters, Sheri P. Geyer (Jon) of New Cumberland, Sandra L. Stoner of New Cumberland, and Julia Wagner Blessing of Lewisberry; a brother, John J. Hoover of Windham, VT; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Deacon Adam Estep officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.

Viewing will be held 10 – 11 AM Friday in the funeral home.
