Julie Ray D’Angelo, 68, of New Cumberland passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman Center. She fought a courageous battle with MDS but eventually succumbed to the disease.
Julie was a retired Human Resources Director for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Elyria High School, OH, University of Dayton, OH, and received her Masters degree from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. She was a Penn State Master Gardener and poured her heart and soul into gardening. Julie was a voracious reader and loved anything to do with history and politics. She also greatly enjoyed the water, whether it was swimming, boating, water skiing, scuba diving or just walking the beach. She loved meeting new people and sharing stories. Julie was a member of East Shore YMCA, HAIPMA, Severn River Yacht Club in Annapolis, MD, and Friends of New Cumberland Library.
She was born June 13, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Robert and Mary Ann (Wagner) Ray. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Ray and sister Jennifer McColl.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. D’Angelo; siblings, Greg Ray, Monica Lovgren, Brian Ray, Mark Ray of Fresno, CA, and Marcia Shaw of Santa Rosa, CA and 21 nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and will carry her energy and spirit forward.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 1st at 12:30pm with Memorial service at 1:30pm at Parthemore Funeral Home in New Cumberland, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to New Cumberland Public Library, One Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
