Leo Eugene "Gene" McCreary

Leo Eugene “Gene” McCreary, 92, of New Cumberland died Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Carolyn’s House, the residence of Hospice of Central PA.

An Army Veteran of the Korean War era, Gene was a retired Computer Analyst from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland where he served as President of the Council and Property Chairman for many years. He was also a member of the Chartier Club, VFW Post 7415, and New Cumberland Olde Towne Association. He had a talent for and enjoyed wood working.

He was born June 8, 1932 in Harrisburg to the late Leo Hardy and Ruth Kathryn (Davidson) McCreary. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, John and William McCreary and Jacqueline Walmer and Shirley Barninger.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Erisman) McCreary; and brothers, Ronald K. McCreary of Gettysburg and Larry K. McCreary of New Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:30 until Memorial services at 11:30am Monday, December 2, 2024 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland. Committal services with military honors will follow at 1:30pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
