Leo S. Wojcikiewicz, 92, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg.
Leo was born in Larksville to the late Walter and Agatha (Wiater) Wojcikiewicz. He was a decorated WWII veteran serving in France in F Company, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, under General Patton, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a graduate of Bucknell University Junior College, Wilkes Barre. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Holy Name Society; a life member of the American Legion Post 143.
Leo enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a man of many talents, which included art and music. But more than anything, Leo loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 63 years, Helen (Bouika) Wojcikiewicz; three daughters, Kathleen Jewett (Michael) of Frederick, MD; Lynnmarie Bennett (Michael) of New Cumberland and Theresa Ann Sherman (Michael) of Fairfax Station, VA; a sister Sophie Glovack of New York; ten grandsons, one granddaughter, two great grandsons, a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Wojcikiewicz, and two sisters Jeannette Radzawich and Izabel Wojcikiewicz.
Viewing will be from 12:30 – 1:30 pm Friday, July 28, 2017 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will follow celebrated at 2 pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland with the Rev. Samuel Dubois as Celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery; Upper Allen Twp. Memorial contributions can be sent to St. Theresa Catholic Church at the address above.
