LeRoy J. Simmons, 91, of New Cumberland died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his home.
A WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving as a B52 Mechanic, he retired as a System Analyst from the former New Cumberland Army Depot in 1981. His previous civilian service was at Marietta Depot and Olmsted Base, Middletown. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; and Riverview Golf Club. He enjoyed woodworking and was honored to have received Garden of the Week from the New Cumberland Olde Town Association.
He was born September 18, 1926 in Marietta to the late George and Ruth (Sharp) Simmons. He was also preceded in death by his wife Caroline; brothers Ben, Robert, and Harold; and sisters Beatrice and Pearl.
He is survived by three sons, Michael L. (Janice) of Fork Union, VA, Mark A. (Robin) of Westover, MD, Charles L. “Chuck” (Sharon) of Marietta; daughter, Constance “Connie” J. Simmons of Lancaster; step-children, Barry A. Clay (Joanne) of Camp Hill and Terry L. Clay (Sandi) of York; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10am until funeral services at 11am Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to his church, 415 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070.
