Lester E. Johnston

Lester E. Johnston, 103, of Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp. and formerly of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at his residence.
He retired as a Service Manager for Hobart Company, Harrisburg. Lester supported the WWII efforts by manufacturing and repairing aircraft at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. He enjoyed traveling, deer hunting and the outdoors. Born in Greenwood Twp., Clearfield County, he was the son of the late Allen J. and Mabel L. (Burlingame) Johnston. Lester was the widower of Betsy E. (Ross) Johnston and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Dale.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Stanley W. Johnston and Barbara of Pine, CO, and Douglas L. Johnston and Wende of New Cumberland; a sister, Vivian McDonald of Emporium; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
