Lewis Samuel Long, 84, of Silver Spring Twp., Mechanicsburg, passed peacefully from home to be present with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 5th, 2015.
He retired after 40 years as a Conductor for Amtrak, formerly Conrail and the Pennsylvania Railroad; a former Realtor for Walker Realty, Mechanicsburg; a U.S. Army Veteran and Communication Specialist during the Korean War; a 1949 graduate of Lewistown High School; a member of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill. Born on July 29th, 1930, in Belleville, he was the son of the late John S. and Eva. M. (Stewart) Long. He was the widower of Fay L. (Opdenhoff) Long.
Surviving are three daughters, Jill M. Peterson (Larry) of Dillsburg, Susan F. Deremer (Ray) of Mechanicsburg, and Wendy L. Fronte (Bryan) of Camp Hill; a sister, Delores Bingaman of Lewistown; six grandchildren, Timothy (Erika), Nicholas, Cody, Brandy, Caley and Joseph; nieces and nephews; his best friend, Janet Saylor of Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, with Pastors Wayde Wilson and Dean Bertsch officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
Visitation will be held 5 – 7 PM on Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
