Loretta A. (Gill) Neill

Loretta A. (Gill) Neill, 88, of Shermansdale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

A former dress maker, Loretta continued to work part-time bagging groceries at New Cumberland Army Depot, the Carlisle Army Barracks and finally at Giant Foods, where she worked until May 26th of this year.

Loretta was a faithful member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland and continued to drive herself to the early Sunday service until May 27th of this year.

Family was the focal point of Loretta’s life, and she had a prayer in her heart for all. She enjoyed trips to the Williamsburg Pottery Factory with her companion and sister, cooking for her loved ones, and checking in with regular phone calls and updates. She baked and sold the best-ever fruit cakes until just a few years ago, with many loyal return customers.
Loretta was born in Burnham, Mifflin County, PA to the late Boyd and Gladys (Horner) Gill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesse E. Neill, son Gary William Neill, long time companion Wilbur E. Black, daughter Lynda Kay Schultz, and son in law Christopher Alan Hocker.

She is survived by her daughters, Loretta “Lu” Hocker of Harrisburg and Dawn Steevers; three siblings, Mary Kireta of Camp Hill, Betty Miller of Lewistown and Ray Fisher of Millerstown; five grandchildren, Angel Pricer, Marc Neill, Keith Neill, William Schultz, Elizabeth Neill; four great grandchildren, Morgan Nicole Keim, Keegan Neill, Connor Orion Pricer, Liam Keiran Pricer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 11, 2018 in Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, 228 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. Carl Ford Peterson officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
