Lucille D. Lippert, formerly of Fanwood, New Jersey, passed away on February 4, 2017 at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 20, 1916 to Walter and Mary Luecke, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred H. Lippert. They lived in Chicago and in Mariemont, Ohio, before moving to Fanwood in 1962. In addition to working for the Defense Department in New Jersey, Lucille was involved in many community activities. She was an active member of Fanwood Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Fanwood Memorial Library. Lu also served as the president of the Women’s Club of Fanwood and played in a bridge club.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth, and by Fred, her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Harry) Meyers of Columbia, South Carolina, and by her son Keith (Linda) Lippert of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She also leaves six grandchildren: Mark (Lori) Meyers, Tom (Sue) Meyers, Matt (LeeAnne) Meyers, Scott (Amy) Lippert, Laura (Eric) Jensen, Cathy (Mike) Muraco, and seven great- grandchildren.
Pleasant, happy, and kind to the end, Lu loved being the center of attention at her 100th birthday party. She reminisced, told stories, laughed, joked, and thoroughly enjoyed her large family.
The family is deeply appreciative of the loving staff at Messiah Village, who gave her such wonderful care for four years. Services will be private.
