Lynn Marie Helmick

Lynn Marie Helmick, 72, of New Cumberland, PA passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, October 16, 2023. She was the daughter of the late David and Betty (McManus) Helmick, born on September 30, 1951 in Uniontown.

She was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, Fayette County, PA, and retired from PPL Electric Utilities after 33 years of service in the Central PA area.

Lynnie had a great sense of humor and welcoming personality. She appreciated the quiet of their New Cumberland home where she enjoyed birdwatching, nurturing indoor plants, and snuggling with British TV murder mysteries or reading James Patterson. A Pittsburgh sports fanatic, evenings and weekends were for Pirates and Steelers. Lynnie also had a soft spot for animals and nature, rescuing many pets throughout the years, and traveling with Annette to their cabin in the woods to share with family & friends in Indiana County, PA.  

Lynn’s passing was sudden, and those in her life will truly miss the spirit of her presence and heartwarming hugs. In her memory, please keep the hug alive with those around you, whether it be family, friends or perfect strangers. 

Surviving Lynn is her faithful partner and wife, Annette Basalyga; a sister, Bonnie Jean Helmick of Masontown; a nephew, David Czikray of Mississippi; an aunt & uncle, Kathie and Thomas McManus of Oregon; and a playfully loving group of in-laws whom she inherited through marriage and loved dearly. 

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
