Manfred Ledebohm, 84, of Fairview Township, New Cumberland, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, nine years to the day of losing his wife to cancer.
He was born in Werneck, Germany and lived in Zeuzleben. A survivor of the carpet bombing of Germany, a skilled painter and plasterer, at age 18 he immigrated to the US where he met his wife, Christa Muelbert from Neckarhausen, Germany. With his wife’s help, he started a career as a local homebuilder, financing construction by living, along with his wife and son, in the first floor of his first bi-levels while building out the second floor. Retired in 2008 after 45 years, Manfred’s honesty, integrity and sense of fairness was well known in the construction community.
He lost his wife in 2012 to cancer and is survived by his two sons, Oskar and wife Becky; and Karl and his wife Lisa and their children, Rachel (graduate of Concordia U., Montreal) and Olivia (Temple U.), who were the world to him.
Keeping with Manfred’s wishes, there will be no services.
