Margaret L. "Peggy" Leicht

February 26, 1934 — April 13, 2023

Margaret L. “Peggy” Leicht, 89, of Etters, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in her residence with her loving family at her side.

She was the retired co-owner with her late husband, Vernon, of Leicht’s Poultry and Eggs. Vernon was an original vendor at the West Shore Farmers Market, Lemoyne, and he and Peggy operated the business together for over 50 years.

Peggy was born in Blairsville, Indiana County, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and E. Kathryn (Griffith) Baker and was one of eleven children. She was preceded in death by six of her siblings and is survived by two brothers and two sisters. In addition to her husband, parents and six siblings, Peggy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Peter E. Fasnacht.

After Peggy graduated from Blairsville High School, she moved to Harrisburg where she met the love of her life, Vernon. In addition to raising their children and operating the market business, she and Vernon shared many wonderful experiences traveling to almost all of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Her pastimes included reading, shopping, crossword puzzles and rocking her grandbabies. She also enjoyed traveling to concerts to see her favorite singer, Engelbert Humperdinck.

Peggy was warm, loving, gracious, and witty. She made everyone she met feel welcome and special. More than anything, her focus was on her family whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return, so very much.

Also surviving are her children, Linda J. Leicht of Mechanicsburg, Lisa J. Knode (Timothy L. Kroh) of Etters and Bradley A. Leicht of Etters; three grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan and Caitlyn; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Naomi and Raelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Peggy’s caregiver, Susan Gilmartin, for her devoted and loving care given to their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, as well as to Homeland Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, in Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland with the Rev. Ray Villarreal officiating.
