Margaret M. Mickey

Margaret M. Mickey, 90, of New Cumberland passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at her home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born in Kingston PA to the late Stanley J. and Susan (Strutko) Daniels. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Mickey, brother, Stanley, Jr., and Grandson, Casey E. Morris.
Margaret was a member of St. Theresa Parish in New Cumberland since 1942. She was a member of Council of Catholic Women, Little Flower Club, and volunteered cleaning at the church. She served as Past Vice President of New Cumberland Woman’s Club and was a member of VFW Post 7415 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, baking and making meals for her shut-in friends, and participated in the Vickie’s Angel Walk. Margaret loved her garden and enjoyed sharing plants with everyone. During WWII she was employed in the office of the Signal Corp at New Cumberland Army Depot. Later at Schleisners Women’s Store and Doutrich’s Men’s Wear.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Wintrode (James) of Gurnee, IL and Suzanne Morris (Larry) of Lewisberry; Son, David Mickey of Enola; grandson, Kenneth Wickes (Kathleen) of IL; five step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Barron (Andy) of New Cumberland and Dorothy S. Kuzminski (Joseph)of Gathersburg, MD.
Margaret extended her deepest gratitude to her hospice caretakers, many friends, and for all the prayers she received.
Viewings will be held from 4 to 6pm Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30am Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Interment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
