Marie Ada Moorhead

Marie Ada Moorhead, 96, of Etters, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Middletown Home. She was the daughter of the late Jay M. and Lois A. (Sunderland) Stine, born on October 1, 1924 in McVeytown.

She began her working career at West Shore School District on the cafeteria staff at both Fishing Creek and Hillside Elementary Schools. She would transition to the hospitality industry as a prep cook, and she worked at the Sheraton (now the Clarion) on Limekiln Road, New Cumberland, for more than forty years. She was a wizard in the kitchen, making almost everything from scratch and spoiling her family with apple dumplings and bread pudding regularly. Tending to her garden and watching the birds and wildlife put her at ease, and she would roll through 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles in a day or two. Marie was independent and a great mother who always supported her family. She will be sorely missed by her son and daughter.

Surviving Marie are her children, Edward E. “Peanie” Moorhead (Vey) of Hummelstown and Doris Jean Kohler (Moorhead) of Etters; grandchildren, Tara A. Kohler (Scott R. Kautz), Jodi, and two other grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one sister, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edwin Moorhead; and two brothers and a sister.

A viewing will take place from 10-11AM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A funeral service will begin at 11AM in the funeral home, followed by interment in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.
