Marie (Bolt) Roth

Marie (Bolt) Roth, 99, of New Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at her home. She was the daughter of the late George and Delphine (Larcom) Bolt, born on January 25, 1923 in Granville Summit.

Growing up in Bradford County, work would bring Marie to south central PA, where she and her husband, Dick, would live on the family farm in Shiremanstown. She cared for her husband and children, and she supported the family’s butcher shop, Roth Meats. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Shiremanstown, for more than 75 years, and she was a member of the New Cumberland Women’s Club since the early 1990s, shortly after moving to the borough. Mild-mannered in nature, Marie enjoyed crossword puzzles and Sudoku or tending to her rosebushes.

Surviving Marie are her children, Diane Roth of New Cumberland, Ken Roth (wife, Kathy) of Mechanicsburg and Wayne Roth (wife, Aileen) of New Cumberland; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Roth; and siblings, Tom Bolt and Harriett Hulslander, both of Bradford County.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Shiremanstown. A public viewing will be held from 10:30AM until services begin in the church. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
