Marie Lucille Spotts

Marie Lucille Coleman Spotts, 94, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, died November 11, 2015, at Sarah Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Marie was born July 2, 1921, in Sacramento, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Homer and Annetta Umholtz Coleman. She was a homemaker and retired from the garment industry in which she served as a professional seamstress and chair lady for the ILGWU for many years.
She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed traveling, reading, and playing Pinochle, Parcheesi, and Sequence – all of which she would frequently win. She is remembered for her wonderful authentic Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, impeccable sewing and knitting, and her sweet smile.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin E. Spotts, one brother, Thomas D. Coleman, and three sisters, Ruth Schwalm, Marcella Stutzman, and Mary Koppenhaver.
She is survived by her son Larry Spotts and his wife Betty, Kokomo, Indiana; her daughter Judy Shanabrough and her husband Boise P., Carlisle, and her son Ralph Spotts and his wife Beth Hager, New Cumberland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Devona Lieberman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 17, 11 am at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, preceded by visitation with the family at 10 am. A private burial will be held at later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where she will join her deceased husband, a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.
Much gratitude is expressed by the family for the expert and devoted care provided by the wonderful staff at Sarah Todd in the last years of Marie’s life.
