Mark Robert Hudson

Mark Robert Hudson, 59, of Etters, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by family. He was the son of Helen (Torbett) Hudson and the late Lloyd R. Hudson, born on September 1, 1961 in Prince George, BC, Canada.

Day or night, you could hear music playing within the walls of Mark’s home. This fit his upbeat personality perfectly; he was always willing to help someone in need, and he loved nothing more than being with his daughters and grand-dogs. His intelligence and determination rivaled his compassion for others, having obtained a Master’s degree after his children were born and his time served in the US Air Force had concluded. A lifelong accountant, he was employed with ACS, Middletown for years. He was a little more adventurous in his younger days, but as time went on, Mark enjoyed the simpler things, like sitting back and playing (the same country notes on) the guitar for his girls. He was a Sea Shepherd volunteer, passionate about the environment, and always an advocate for the defense and conservation of wildlife. He was a “real housewives” afficionado, always up on the latest drama plaguing the rich and famous. Over the years he would attend Calvary Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, and St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, and his final gift to others was that of sight, donating his corneas to those in need. His girls will never forget the experiences they shared, from being yanked out of class to go on a last second trip to St. Thomas, to watching him gleefully feed junk food to his grand-dogs, Nena, Knoxville and Daisey, or watching the Eagles on TV together, or spending a nice evening at a Harrisburg Senators game. He always did what he could to lighten the situation, but it was finally time for the family’s bionic man to be at rest.

Surviving Mark are his daughters, Kathryn “Katie” Marie Hudson, Christina Marie Wallace, Tabitha Marie Gendreau; grandchildren, Leesha Marie Gendreau and Samantha Leeza Gendreau; his mother, Helen (Torbett) Hudson; siblings, Mary Papadoplos, Stephen Rohrbaugh, and Kay Gelletly; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd R. Hudson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
