Marlene M. (Molly) Starr, 84, of Camp Hill, died Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg.
She retired as a teacher at St. Margaret Mary School, Harrisburg, and had also taught in the West Shore and East Pennsboro School Districts. Marlene was a member and Sunday School teacher of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne. Her passion was mentoring and tutoring children as well as helping those in need. She and Jim enjoyed many years of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay together.
Born on May 8, 1936, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Roy S. and Marie I. (Walter) McCoy. She was the widow of James E. Starr, her husband of 48 years and was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Fred McCoy.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Starr Jr. and wife, Karen of Stewartstown; Keith A. Starr and wife, Melissa of Camp Hill; a daughter, Julia E. Fickel of Camp Hill; eight grandchildren, Katie Colmer, Daniel Starr, Kevin Fickel, Samuel Fickel, Natasha Fickel, Andrew Fickel, Kayla Starr and Kara Starr; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 19, from 5 – 7 pm at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to bless the hard-working care team at Messiah Village. Gifts may be made payable to “Messiah Village Residents’ Council” and should include a note that your gift is to be designated to the Team Member Christmas Fund in memory of Marlene Starr.
