Martha Ellen Hollinger

Martha Ellen Hollinger, 84, of Lewisberry died Monday, August 7, 2023 at home in the presence of her family.  

A 1958 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School, she worked as a CNA at Bethany Village and Comfort Care, a lunch lady for West Shore School District, Haar’s Drive In Movie Theater, and later retired from  Boscov’s Department Store.

She was a founding member of New Life Baptist Church and board member of Red Land Senior Citizens Center and Red Land Area Women’s Club.  She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of White Rose Motorcycle Club.  

Having grown up on a farm, she took pleasure in passing on her gardening skills to her family.  She enjoyed cooking and baking from scratch and was famous for her hamburger barbeque and chicken pot pie.  She loved Celtic, Gospel, and Blue Grass music and animals.

She was born July 1, 1939 at home to the late Alton E. and Katherine E. (Snyder) Harro.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Hollinger, and siblings, Vance Kohler, Ruth Lenker, and Rhoda Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Hollinger-Torres and granddaughters, Tehya and Catalina Torres, all of Lewisberry; sisters, Mary E. Crocker of Modjeska Canyon, CA and Opal Beitler (Grant) of Newville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10am until the funeral service at 11am Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.  Pastor Ronnie Riggins will officiate.  Burial will follow in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp.
