Mary Irene Abele

Mary Irene Abele, 76, of Lemoyne died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at her home.
She was a retired registered nurse from Harrisburg Hospital. She received her RN Degree from Good Samaritan Nursing School, Zanesville, OH. She was a member of St. Theresa Parish and volunteered at Harrisburg Hospital, Ecumenical Food Pantry, Harrisburg Civic Club and many other organizations. She enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling, gardening, flower arranging, and spoiling her grandchildren.
She was born September 6, 1938 in Marietta, OH to the late Clarence and Eunice (Kern) Walter. She was the widow of Andre Nicholas Abele.
She is survived by five children, Elizabeth Abele of Malaysia, Malia Joy (Jeff) of Chicago, IL, Susan Shires (Ralph) of New Cumberland, Walter Abele (Suzanne) of Greensboro, NC, and David Abele of South Korea; four siblings, Charlotte Lang, John Walter, Edith Brooker, and Carolyn Skinner all of Marietta, OH; and seven grandchildren, Austin, Coby, Anthony, Kelsey, Joe, Rachel, and Nick.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
