Mary Lynn Tylenda was 77 years of age when she passed away peacefully in her home in Camp Hill on Friday, April 16, 2021.
Mary Lynn retired from Blue Chip Federal Credit Union on Derry Street in Harrisburg after many wonderful years serving her customers, many of whom became close friends. Born in Grundy, Virginia, she spent her first four years of elementary school in a one-room school house. After graduating from Grundy High School, she attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, graduating in 1966.
Mary Lynn began a career in banking with the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, working in several different Harrisburg branches. She left PSECU to take the position of Vice President of Blue Chip Federal Credit Union, eventually attaining the role of President and CEO. Her love for her customers and her team made the decision to retire very difficult. Outside of work, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends. She became an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan after years of watching her two grandsons play hockey.
Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Mary Elsie (Yates) Clevinger and her sisters Phyllis Marshburn and Eleanor Brammer. She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Ben Tylenda Jr; sons, Ben Tylenda III (Tammy) of Pittsburgh and Rusty Tylenda (Kris Byrne) of Camp Hill; brother Jim Clevinger (JoAnn) of Louisburg NC; brothers-in-law John Brammer of Ridgecrest CA and Ed Marshburn of Doswell VA; and two grandsons, Brad Tylenda of Pittsburgh and Matt Tylenda of Grand Rapids MI.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service time Saturday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Mary Lynn’s memory to the United Parkinson’s Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494.
