Maryellen Kreager Kern

Maryellen (Kreager) Kern , 91, formerly of Camp Hill, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 in Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp.

She was a classy lady, always had a smile for everyone she would meet. Maryellen retired as Operations and Personnel Director for the former John Wanamaker Company; a graduate of Newark High School, Newark, OH and Miami University, Oxford, OH class of 1947. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Little Flower Club; Penn Cumberland Garden Club; and the West Shore Senior Center, New Cumberland. Maryellen loved picking up shells on the beach, working with arts and crafts, floral arranging and more. Also Maryellen was talented in many practical ways. Whether building a sandbox or reupholstering a chair, as well as needlepointing one of her favorite angels.

Maryellen was born in Newark, OH to the late Orville W. and Florence (Orr) Kreager.

She was the widow of Arthur John Kern and is survived by her children, John C. Kern and wife Deborah of Harrisburg, David J. Kern and wife Pamela of Virginia Beach, VA, Gregory A. Kern and wife Debbie of Austin, TX and Patricia Kern Banzhoff and husband Harry Banzhoff, III of Mechanicsburg; a sister Judith Redman of Swansea, IL; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland with the Rev. J. Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 pm Monday, August 15, 2016 and again Tuesday morning from 10 – 10:30 am, both in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
