Matthew Hunter Carbaugh, 41, of Baltimore, MD, formerly of Mechanicsburg died Thursday, October 30, 2024.
He was born March 10, 1983 in Harrisburg the son of Diane Ruth Markley (nee Lenington) and her husband Christopher Markley of Southport, NC and the late Forrest Lee Carbaugh.
Matt was a creative spirit, inquisitive and philosophical at his core. His whimsical nature kept him young at heart and was infectious to those around him. A talented artist, he gifted many friends and family with stunning portraits and his beach sand sculptures were legendary. He loved nature and was deeply concerned about environmental issues and the health of our ecosystem. He persuaded anyone he could to travel up Mt Washington with him, enjoyed roasting hotdogs on a fire he created with nothing but twigs and leaves, and spent hours swimming and floating in the ocean. Most of all, he had a deep love of family to whom he was fiercely loyal and devoted.
He was the brother of Joseph Carbaugh (Sheila) of Philadelphia, Tara Pettersson of Camp Hill, Kelli Pettersson of New Cumberland, and Jarrod Markley (Samantha) of Charlottesville, VA, and Brandon Carbaugh of Los Angeles, CA; five nieces and nephews, Maya Pettersson, Olivia Carbaugh, Cassandra Carbaugh, Veda Markley, and Arlo Markley.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30am Thursday, November 14th at Parthemore Funeral Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Day Foundation, https://shop.arborday.org/
