Melvin E. Hostetter, 88, of Camp Hill, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a Financial Advisor for Heritage Wealth Advisors, Lemoyne and worked previously for many years with Mowery Associates, Inc. also in Lemoyne. Mel served on numerous Corporate Boards and the Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Mel was a U.S Army veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Lancaster and Lebanon Valley College, Annville where he was a Quarterback and Team Captain. Mel was a Penn State football enthusiast, an avid hunter, a Life Member of The American Legion, the Mechanicsburg Sportsman Club and a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.
Mel was born in South Londonderry Twp., Lebanon County to the late J. Clarence and Leah (Etter) Hostetter.
He is survived by his children, Kurtis A. Hostetter, M.D. of Lake Mary, FL, Kerry A. Hostetter of New Knoxville, OH and Cynthia L. Mercuri of Phoenixville, PA; siblings, H. Claire “Cook” Hostetter of Camp Hill, Harold Hostetter of Rome, NY and Sarah Clemson of Anchor Point, Alaska; and five grandchildren, Madison, Joshua, Serena and Kalyn Hostetter and Alex Mercuri and his Grandpuppy Roxanne.
A memorial service to celebrate Mel’s life will be held from 11:30 am– 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in the National Civil War Museum, 100 Concert Drive Harrisburg, PA 17103. A luncheon and visitation with family will immediately follow the service.
Mel will be laid to rest in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., PA with his late wife Betty J. Hostetter at 11 am on Monday, July 27, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made in Mel’s memory to The American Legion or Wounded Warrior Project.
