Michael E. Shovlin, 24, of Lower Paxton Twp., died Saturday, January 9, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on September 20, 1996, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Cheryl A. (Ruble) Shovlin of Harrisburg and the late Timothy M. Shovlin.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his older brothers and sister, Tyler J. Shovlin (Kati) of Elkhorn, NE, Ashley E. Samoila (Alex) of Bozeman, MT, and Thomas M. Shovlin (Sara) of Littleton, NH; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen M. Ruble of New Cumberland; aunts and uncles, Dr. Joseph and Lisa Shovlin, Gary and Jo Anna Shovlin and Dr. Dean Ruble; cousins, Ryan Shovlin (Jena), Erin Solomon (Scott) and Justin Ruble; nephews and niece, Grayson Shovlin, Kaiden Samoila, and Briar Shovlin. In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by grandparents; Cloyd E. Ruble, Cornelius J. Shovlin and Betty E. Shovlin.

Michael was a 2015 graduate of Central Dauphin High School and a 2019 graduate of Penn State University. Michael was known for his big smile, infectious laugh, caring heart, ability to bring people together and his strong love of his friends, family, and dog, Jax. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his quick wit, and his kind heart. Sports were an important part of Michael’s life. He was a devoted Penn State Football fan and a Philadelphia Eagles fan almost from birth. Sea Isle City, NJ was another place that he loved to visit with his family and friends, and where so many happy memories in his life were made. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

A walk-through visitation will be held 3 – 6 PM Sunday, January 17 in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, for all to attend. Memorial Services will be held for the immediate family in person and virtual for all others at the Parthemore website at 11 AM on Monday. Please find the link to the memorial service on Michael’s obituary page at www.parthemore.com. The link will visible Monday morning prior to the start of the memorial service.

With the recent loss of Michael’s father, it is the request of the family to not receive flowers but rather support meaningful causes. Memorial contributions are requested to Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (adaptivesportspartners.org) or Boys and Girls Club of the North Country (bgcnorthcountry.org).
