Michael E. Wynne

Michael Edward Wynne passed away Saturday morning, October 27th, 2018 at his home in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

Born December 22nd, 1954 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Stanley and Veronica Wynne (Garieppy), he grew up playing every sport he could. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. He then joined the Navy, where he made many lifelong friends over his six years of service. He studied in the Nuclear program, and served on the USS Spiegel Grove and the USS Tullibee. After serving, he enrolled at the University of Toledo, where he met his wife, Karen Rigby. Together they had four children: Kevin Michael Wynne, 33, of Elizabethtown, PA, Steven Edward Wynne, 31, of Middletown, PA, Hayley Jane Wynne, 29, of Elizabethtown, PA, and Eleanor Gail Wynne, 22, of Decatur, Georgia. Michael attended Penn State Harrisburg and graduated in 1990 with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He went on to work at Three Mile Island Nuclear Power plant, where he remained employed until his retirement in 2013. He and his family moved to Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania in 1997, where he became an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served on church council for many years, including a term as Council President.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, and survived by his loving wife, Karen, his four children, and his brothers Christopher and Timothy Wynne, and his sister, Nancy Hoffman.

There will be a visitation at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 High Street, Elizabethtown 17022, on Thursday, November 1st, at 10:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Penn State Cancer Institute.
