Michael J. Keane, 88, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, October 28th at his home.
He was a graduate of Catholic High School, Harrisburg and attended Penn State University and Wharton School. He served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves. Throughout his life he held positions in the heavy equipment and truck parts industries and was a safety inspector for the PA Department of Labor and Industry. Mike was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland where he was a member of the Bishop J.W. Shanahan Assembly of the Fourth degree, K of C Council 8921 and ushered during Masses. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Marian and cared for her during her extended illness. He was also an avid sports fan, especially football which he played in high school and was past President of the Trinity High School Athletic Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors and working around his house. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who loved to spend time with his family, cook on the grill, entertain and go on trips and excursions with his wife and family.
Mike was born in Harrisburg to the late Edward G. and Mildred (Hilton) Keane and was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Marian B. (Hollinger) Keane; sister Beatrice Plesic, brothers Edward and Richard Keane and great-granddaughter, Kiara Ann Hurstik.
He is survived by his children, Michael Keane (Rosanne) of Avondale, PA, Patrick C. Keane (Meigan) of McLean, VA and Mary Eileen Mueller (John) of Camp Hill; seven grandchildren, Caitlin Hurstik (Kyle), Michael, Brendan, Reilley, and Lindsay Keane, and Elizabeth and Laura Mueller; brother-in-law Carl Hollinger of Lititz; and sister-in-law Freda Keane of Camp Hill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, November 6th in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA with the Rev. William Barbee as Celebrant. Visitations will be from 5-7 pm Thursday and 10-10:30 am Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Mike’s memory to his church at the address above.
