Michael S. Stoey, 57 of Lewisberry died Thursday, July 15, 2021, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University in 1987 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mike began his federal career with the US Army Corps of Engineers. In 2002, he started with DLA Installation Management where he continued a successful career that led to his current position, Chief, Installation Management Division. Mike was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10474. Mike coached little league baseball for 23 years through Red Land Little League and held a board position for many years. He had a passion for working with kids teaching them a sport that he loved and the life lessons that go along with organized sports. Sports were a lifelong passion of his. He loved to watch Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers/Penguins/Pirates. He loved playing golf, listening to live music, and sitting by a campfire. He was an avid gardener and loved riding his Harley with his wife. Mike loved giving back to the community he lived in. He was a volunteer fireman for many years. For the past several years, he worked tirelessly to raise money for the annual Children’s Christmas Party, a nonprofit organization that provides necessities and gifts for 120 underprivileged children (ages 6 to 8) from five local school districts. Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and observing wildlife. He had the unique ability of meeting people where they are. He accepted people without judgment and was a loyal friend to many. Most importantly, he was a loving and proud father to his boys. His most cherished title was “Papa”. He loved being a grandpa more than anything in the world. And he was the best.
Mike was born December 24, 1963, in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife Cathleen (Rossi) Stoey; parents, Edward and Beverly “Sally” Stoey of DuBois; three sons, Travis Stoey (Maria) of Gilbert, AZ, and Brett and Luke Stoey both of Lewisberry; brothers, Donald and Robert Stoey (Donna) of Dubois; granddaughter, Arianna Stoey and a second grandchild due in October; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland with Recitation of the Rosary to end the viewing, and from 12 – 12:45pm Thursday at Holy Infant Church, Manchester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm Thursday at Holy Infant Church, Manchester. Private Committal will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children’s Christmas Party by mailing a check in their name to the New Cumberland Federal Credit Union, 345 Lewisberry Road, P.O. Box 658, New Cumberland, PA 17070. All contributions are tax deductible.
