Mildred Jane McIntyre, 93, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, and formerly of New Cumberland, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Village.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, and a soloist and member of its choir and was a member of the choir at Holy Infant Catholic Church, York Haven and a member and former president of the New Cumberland Woman’s Club. Millie was a former Docent at the Governor's Mansion in Harrisburg and enjoyed playing Bridge at various Bridge clubs, including the Camp Hill Bridge Club, and was a voracious reader. She loved opera and two of her greatest life’s highlights were seeing Luciano Pavarotti sing at the Forum in Harrisburg and meeting Kiri Te Kanawa in Paris, France.
Born on December 19th, 1921, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Margaret E. (Lawrence) Harris. She was the widow of Henry F. McIntyre and was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Harris of Paris.
Surviving are two sons, Robert H. of Harrisburg and Dr. Todd D. (Bertha) of Chester Springs; three daughters, Pamela A. Wirt (Bill) of Etters, Shawn M. Hassan of Camp Hill, and M. Meghan McIntyre of New Cumberland; two brothers, Richard L. Harris (Joan) of Long Island, NY, and Clarence R. Harris of Richmond, VA; a sister-in-law, Virginia O'Brien of Florida, NY; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.
Visitation will be held 5 - 7 PM Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Village and the staff at Hospice of Central PA for the loving care and many kindnesses shown to Millie.
