Monica J. Kissling, 90, formerly of New Cumberland and Long Island, NY, died Wednesday, January 22, 2013, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp. following a long battle with Alzheimers Disease.
She retired as the Director of Health Education for the Manhasset Free School District, Manhasset, Long Island, NY, and had formerly worked as a stewardess for the former Pan American Airlines. She was an Army Nursing Corps Veteran of WWII where she earned the Normandy Invasion Medal. Mrs. Kissling was a graduate of Adelphi University. Born on October 28, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Col. Edward J., US Army Ret., and Mary C. (OHara) Roche. She was the widow of Gerald Kissling.
Surviving are a sister, Rosemary R. Marcy of New Cumberland; a niece and her husband, Erin M. and Thomas Devlin; two grandnephews, Paul T. Devlin and Neil T. Devlin; a grandniece, Marcy B. Devlin, all of Camp Hill; a grandnephew, Ryan Marcy of Mountaintop.
Private burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
