Myrtle G. McCauslin, 88, died on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Penn State Health, Holy Spirit Medical Center after a short illness. She most recently lived at Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg.
While she had been retired for many years, she previously had enjoyed working for the former Hill’s Department Store in Camp Hill as a salesclerk and spending time with her coworkers.
She is survived by her son, Edward McCauslin, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Laverna; granddaughter, Stacey (McCauslin) Schilling and her husband, Steven; grandson, Mark McCauslin; and close family friends, Betty and Chuck Ellis of York Haven. Growing up, she was the youngest girl of 12 siblings and is survived by one sister, Betty Marks of Leader Heights. Myrtle is preceded in death by her other son, Earl McCauslin, formerly of Etters, and her parents, Nathan and Myrtle (Rudy) Kinsey, formerly of Rudytown.
She was a long-standing member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewisberry. Myrtle will be remembered most for her great love of her friends and dressing in anything and everything pink or purple. For many years, she could be found roller skating at Hagy’s Fountainblu Skating Arena and Olympic Skating Center where she was a second ‘mom’ to many. Born in 1933 and only afforded an education to the seventh grade, she overcame many obstacles in life herself and mentored many of her ‘kids’ to pursue their dreams and opportunities in life.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Myrtle will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Mt. Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Lewisberry, with the Rev. Andrew Fitch officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Hilltop Cemetery, Lewisberry immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Mt. Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 863 Lewisberry Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339.
