Nancy M. Myers

Nancy Marie Myers, 73, of Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 10th. She passed peacefully with her oldest son, David, by her side. Nancy was a proud mother to David, Kevin, and Nathan Myers and a devoted wife to Franklin Myers. In her final days, Nancy was visited by many friends and loved ones whose lives she had impacted.

Nancy Myers was born Nancy Marie Andersen on December 6, 1951. She was the third child of Stanley and Mary Andersen. Nancy and her four siblings (Roy, Lorny, Wes, and Vicky) grew up on a farm just outside of Woonsocket, South Dakota. Nancy loved living on the farm, and told many stories about the animals on the farm (including a goose named Inky who imprinted on Nancy and followed her everywhere) and about the special rock in the field where she would go when she wanted a quiet place.

As a child, Nancy played the piano, and she also played the baritone and the drums in the Woonsocket High School Marching Band. She was also named the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year and attended South Dakota Girls State. She graduated at the top of her class in 1970. She went on to study biology and graduated from the pre-med program at Bethany Nazarene University in Oklahoma. After graduation, Nancy remained in Oklahoma City, eventually landing a job as the chief technician in the pulmonary laboratory at the University of Oklahoma Hospital. It was here that she met her husband, Frank. They lived in Oklahoma until 1978, when they moved to Pennsylvania. There, Frank started a new medical practice and Nancy continued her work as a lab tech until the birth of their boys.

Nancy decided to change course from working as a medical professional to being a stay-at-home mother. Through this decision, she found a new path not only as an amazing mother, but also as a church youth leader, treasurer, and community leader. Through her work at her church and with the larger Nazarene district, Nancy impacted many, many lives and touched the hearts of all who had the opportunity to know her.

Services for Nancy will be held at Table Life Church of the Nazarene in New Cumberland, PA on Saturday, February 15th. Her viewing will start at 9:30 AM with services and burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Youth Activity Fund at Table Life Church of the Nazarene, which was Nancy’s church and place of ministry for over 40 years. https://www.tablelifechurch.org/giving/
